Recycled bottle glass kiln carving

Here at long last is the free kiln carving pattern for April!  Yay!  This pattern is specifically designed to work with bottle glass, being just the right width for a regular size bottle.  After downloading the pattern, follow these easy steps:

1.  Cut a piece of fiber paper large enough to cover the entire design including the dark rectangle border.  Tack the fiber paper and the pattern down to a cut-proof surface.

2.  Using a very sharp razor knife, carefully cut out and remove all of the gray shaded areas from both the pattern and the fiber paper.

3.  After all of the gray areas are removed, cut around the rectangle border.

4.  Cut a regular 750 mL bottle the same height as the cut fiber paper pattern.  (this may be a unique to you size depending on what percentage you print the pattern at).  Clean the cut bottle and place the cylinder centered on the fiber pattern.

5.  Fire to a full fuse.

After your piece is all finished, consider drilling a hole and making a gorgeous sun catcher or slumping into a butter dish.
