February Kiln Carving Pattern

The kiln carving pattern or February is this swanky floral heart.  This pattern looks great with all kinds of glass.  Ready?  Here we go:

February Kiln Carving Pattern Step 1After you download and print the free pattern, cut a piece of fiber paper large enough to fit the entire pattern.  I used 1/32″ fiber paper for this project.

February Kiln Carving Pattern Step 2Tack the pattern down through the black dots.  Using a very sharp razor knife, remove all of the gray parts of the pattern.

February Kiln Carving Pattern Step 3Cut along the outside black line last and carefully remove the fiber paper from the pattern.

February Kiln Carving Pattern Step 4Place the fiber paper under a nice piece of glass and fire.  I have some suggested firing schedules, if you aren’t sure where to start.  I used a glass plate from the thrift store that has a nice raised floral pattern around the edge.  Don’t worry, soon I’ll show you how to melt ALL the things!

This pattern is free, no credit card is required to download it.  If you do decide to give it a try, I hope that you will consider sending me a photo of your final project.

This pattern is no longer available for individual download.  To download the free 2012 Kiln Carving Patterns compilation book, please visit the Shop.

State of the Studio – Week 2

Sometimes, ok, most of the time, I look at the giant mess and have no idea where to start, so I just pick a spot and work my way around the room in one direction. Works as well as anything I suppose. I this case I started with the giant table. This is a dream of a...
